The Internet’s Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz (2014) If anything, she is even better in Short Term 12, playing a supervisor of troubled kids who battles her own demons.įans of early ’90s psychological thrillers like Single White Female and The Hand That Rocks The Cradle will love receiving The Gift, Joel Edgerton’s edgy directorial debut.Įdgerton himself stars as that old high school friend who just won’t go away, but the show is stolen by the normally affable Jason Bateman, going against type as a total jerk.Īn adaptation of Joe Hill’s novel, Horns offers the tantalising prospect of turning Harry Potter into a devil. But don’t go looking for anything deep.īrie Larson won an Academy Award earlier this year for Room, but it was her performance in this little gem that earned her the role in the Oscar winner. When you accept there is nothing interesting about DiCaprio’s money-worshipping protagonist, the film is something of a riot. Leonardo DiCaprio also has comedic talent, and it’s demonstrated over several escapades in Martin Scorsese’s hair-raising story of sex, drugs and sex ‘n’ drugs.
